Sonia first began working with children with special needs and autism at the age of 14 with the City of Ottawa. Over the years, she has taught classical ballet and yoga as well as worked as a child and youth worker with the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa, creating and delivering programs for youth at risk. Since becoming an Ontario certified teacher, Sonia has taught in Tanzania and England. She is happy to be back in her hometown, currently teaching at Astolot Education Centre.
Sonia believes that teaching children to interact positively with peers and make good decisions are all part of a balanced education and she uses the power of enthusiasm to instill curiosity and excitement within her students. Sonia believes that there are always ways she can improve in her own teaching and continuously looks for ways to grow as an educator.
